I sat down with our seller recently and asked him some very direct questions that I felt like prospective Slidell home buyers out there would like to know. See the details of our conversation below and if you would like more information or a private tour of this great listing, please call me direct at 504.345.8845.

Jason: What were the selling points that led you and your wife to purchase the home initially?

Seller: We were drawn to the house initially because the house was on a corner, acre lot. We’re from Texas and used to homes, even in subdivisions, being a little further apart than what you tend to see in here in Slidell. This lot was big enough to give us some separation, without committing us to a lifetime of continual yard work. Even in a house of this size, the kids bedrooms are generally where things get a little small – not so here. The Mrs. and I were delighted that all three of the kids rooms were big and roughly the same size. There were no arguments or whining about which kid got what room.

Jason: What improvements have you made to the home while you have owned it?

Seller: We have done quite a bit of remodeling since we purchased the home. We completely gutted the kitchen and we get so many compliments on how nice it looks. We have added new cabinetry, countertops and stainless steel appliances. We also added a thick maple butcher block kitchen island, that I really think completes the space. We also remodeled the master bathroom, had the exterior of the home professionally painted and built an awesome storage shed with a floored ceiling for even greater storage capacity. We also added a laundry room of the kitchen that is pretty impressive!

Jason: What are the most unique features of the home?

Seller: The house a unique multi-pitch roof that adds a lot of character to the exterior of the home. In my opinion, you will not find a home this affordable that has a kitchen as nice as ours or a fireplace in the master bedroom, which makes the master a very inviting place on cold nights. There is something about a wood burning fireplace, I guess I am drawn to the smell and the sounds of the wood burning. You can duplicate that with a gas fireplace.

Jason: What do you love most about the subdivision or the surrounding community?

Seller: I love the fact that the subdivision does have a lot of heavy vehicle traffic, so we can get out and ride our bikes with the kids and not have to worry about dodging a lot of cars. I also like the convenience of the subdivision and the fact that the interstate is so close. I travel for work, so I am constantly jumping on Interstate 10 to get to my next assignment.

Jason: What features of the home will you miss most once you have moved?

Seller: There is so much that we’re going to miss about this house and wish that we could take with us. We get compliments from everyone that comes in; it makes us proud to have made it what it is. When we first remodeled the kitchen, the Mrs. immediately said that she was going to hate leaving the island if we ever moved. She’s also going to miss her newly organized closet. I’ve already had to promise to build her another one wherever we go. I’m going to miss the new shed most. I get compliments and offers from friends to move in to it all of the time. I love the 3 car garage! It has room for my shop, an attic separate from the house, and there’s still room to store extra wood and my Can-Am Spyder. The whole family gets excited when it starts getting cool, because we know that it’ll soon be fireplace weather.
